This trip is for women who have read, are reading, or hope to read White Women Cry and Call Me Angry: A Black Woman’s Memoir on Racism in Philanthropy. Join me in Jamaica for 4 days and 3 nights as we explore the themes in this book, process them using somatic exercises and journaling with a local practitioner, and engage in deeply restorative healing experiences.
We begin our journey in Montego Bay, where you will join me for an opening reception at my villa in the hills overlooking magnificent Montego Bay. Then we will travel to Negril to enjoy the famous Seven-Mile Beach and my favorite boutique hotel on the island Skylark Negril Beach Resort. After three nights in Negril, we will return to Montego Bay to travel home or onward to other destinations for those who plan to add on to their stay.
The trip cost of $1,950 pp includes:

A shared room at Skylark Negril Beach Resort on 7-Mile Beach. Therefore, this trip can only be reserved as a pair of friends, colleagues, or family members who know each other well enough to share the same bed. Skylark only has king beds.

All transportation to and from the airport and to and from Negril in a private vehicle.

All meals throughout your entire stay. Group meals will include one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink per person.

A guided movement and journaling experience with Elizabeth, owner of True Self Centre, who will join us from Kingston.

A bath ritual that includes a luxurious and steamy soak in a tub overlooking 7-Mile Beach. Choose from one of three soaks—Release, Rapture, and Restore. The experience includes fresh seasonal fruit and a tea ritual.

A Swedish massage from one of the skilled masseuses at Skylark.
ITINERARY
Day 1
+ Arrival and Reception
Welcome to Jamaica! You will be met at Sangster International Airport (MBJ) by our driver, who will take you to Point of View Villa, my home on the island. You will be greeted by a steel band and a rum punch or other beverage of your choice. Take in the breathtaking view of Montego Bay and get to know the other women who are joining you for this experience. We will then head to Negril. We will drive along the coast and take in awe-inspiring views. We will pass through small towns and markets as we make our way west. We will arrive in Negril at 7 p.m. Dinner will be on your own at Miss Lilly’s, Skylark’s famous restaurant serving authentic Jamaican dishes with a twist.
Day 2
+ Bath Rituals and Massage
We will meet at 9 a.m. for a group breakfast at Miss Lilly’s, where we will discuss White Women Cry. For the rest of the day, some of you will enjoy massages and bath rituals interspersed with beach time, while others will spend the full day at the beach. Order meals right from your beach chair. The staff at this resort is bar none. At the end of the day, return to your room for a hot shower and dinner on your own. We will regroup at 8 p.m. for a group dessert and discussion focused on pleasure.
Day 3
+ Movement and Journaling
Enjoy a light breakfast before joining the group in the yoga room at Skylark Beach Resort. Bring your journal and pen. Dress comfortably. Yoga mats will be provided. We will engage in movement and journaling to move healing from the intellect (book) to the body (soma). We will spend two hours in this practice. Some will enjoy massages and bath rituals on this day. When you are not partaking in a massage or spa ritual, feel free to enjoy the beach or explore other activities such as parasailing, jet skis, etc. We will regroup at 7 p.m. for the final group dinner and discussion.
Day 4
+ Closing Ritual
Before departing for Montego Bay, we will support our healing with a closing and accountability ritual on the beach. Our driver will take us to Montego Bay for departing flights or to meet onward transportation for those who may be staying for additional nights.
